Thesis (D.Min.)--Regent University, 2001.
This doctoral project addresses the question, “What components need to be in a missions manual for the Charismatic Episcopal Church of North America, in order to establish a Missionary Development Agency?” The question arises in the context of a denomination that is barely eight years old and which has little formal missions emphasis on a national or local parish level. The project called for research into literature in order to gain a consensus of the best missions policies and procedures. Research included reviewing and comparing existing missions manuals, and interviewing missions leaders who were associated with parachurch agencies, denominational missions structures, and local churches. In addition, the research called for case studies of missionaries that had been on the field. A synthesis of all the above elements led to the production of the missions manual. Only phases one and two of the missions manual were implemented as a part of the project. The initial implementation was in cooperation with the parishes in the Georgia Diocese and the Southeast Province. The doctoral dissertation is a report and discussion on the development and initial implementation of the missions manual. It is the first step in establishing a Missionary Development Agency for the Charismatic Episcopal Church of North America. As further implementation of the missions manual occurs, it is expected to result in the formation of the Missionary Development Agency of the Charismatic Episcopal Church of North America. The complete missions manual is located in the appendix.
