The purpose of this action research project was to investigate the effects of mixed vocabulary instruction on the comprehension levels of seventeen diverse students in a co-taught inclusive general education environmental science classroom. This class consisted of eleven sophomores, three juniors, and three seniors. Data was collected over 9-weeks, which included: teacher checklist, self-monitoring and group monitoring, class assignments, labs, exit slip, pretest, posttest, and a unit test. Students received vocabulary interventions but academic improvement did not occur.
