The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationships between high school students, physical activities and environmental factors. The subjects of this study consisted of 420 male and 355 female high school students from 22 senior high schools in Taipei, Taiwan. The questionnaires used in this study were the Demographic Information, the Seven-Day Physical Activity Survey (SDPAS), the Physical Environment Questionnaire (PEQ), the Social Environment Questionnaire (SEQ), and the Environmental Barriers Questionnaire (EBQ). The collected data was analyzed by the frequencies, percentage, means, independent <italic> t</italic>-test, Pearson Product-Moment correlation analysis, ANOVAs, Simple Linear Regression (SLR), and Multiple Linear Regression (MLR). The Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) was used for data analysis.

The results revealed that male students had higher physical activities (<italic>M</italic> = 200.97 minutes) than female students (<italic>M</italic> = 157.96 minutes) in a one-week period of time. Basketball was the physical activity male students participate in most (36,070 minutes) which weights 42.84% of total activity time. Walking (13,240 minutes) was the physical activity females participate in most, which weights 23.61% of total activity time.

The significant relationship were found between home environment, neighborhood facilities (physical environments), friend support, media, parental support, teacher modeling, friend modeling (social environments), and physical activity. In addition, negative significant relationship also found between environmental barriers and physical activities. There were differences in students' physical activities according to incomes and no differences in physical activities between three neighborhood characteristics (residential, commercial, and industrial areas). The findings of this study will provide information for administrative department for improving physical environment for high school students in Taiwan.
