Three works were produced using different choreographic methods: <italic> Broken Wing,</italic> eighteen minutes; <italic>Particular,</italic> twelve minutes; and <italic>Kiss the Ground,</italic> thirteen minutes. The works were performed at the Martha B. Knobel Dance Theater at California State University, Long Beach. <italic>Broken Wing</italic> was presented in concert 30 September 3–October 1999; <italic>Particular</italic> was performed 24–27 February 2000; and <italic>Kiss the Ground,</italic> 5–8 October 2000.

520 $a <italic>Broken Wing</italic> was inspired by an art collage of the same name, which inevitably shared the dance's theme. The process by which the dance <italic>Broken Wing</italic> was created utilized symbolic and metaphoric images. <italic>Particular,</italic> motivated by a self-portrait, employed a narrative structure and various theatrical elements. “Great Wagon,” a poem by Lala Al-Din Rumi Maulana, inspired <italic>Kiss the Ground,</italic> a study which had three set pieces. The method and development of these works are documented and evaluated in this paper.
