There can be a lack of understanding of the vulnerable situation of children with disabilities and their families, even among professional caregivers whose mission is to protect the health and wellbeing of these children. Their respectful treatment should include knowledge, empathy, humanity, and an open and sympathetic dialogue. This book provides an overview of knowledge and literature review of children and adolescents with special care needs that contribute to the respect and understanding of children with disabilities and their families.
