Thesis (D.B.A.)--University of Phoenix, 2008.
In the present study, it was proposed corporate leaders believed in success replication as a company strategy without considering changes in the external environment. The literature upheld such beliefs transformed the firm's current advantages into obstacles for future success. The mixed method study used correlation to test the relationship between corporate leadership and changes in the firm's net income and revenue. The study explored the role of corporate leaders in replicating past successes as a basis for future strategy, and the role of the external environment in affecting the leadership's plans for the future. The findings noted corporate leaders believed in replicating past successes for managing risks and establishing internally consistent policies against external threats. The recommendations suggested a balanced scorecard approach to (a) measuring the effectiveness of information gathered to make pertinent business decisions; (b) tracking the returns on continuous improvement methods implemented through teamwork; (c) measuring the effectiveness of the firm's procedures by tracking consistency and transparency scores; (d) tracking the outcomes of risk analyses associated with the firm's decisions; and (e) monitoring workforce effectiveness by tracking employee commitment scores and the aggregate employee response scores to the firm's leadership.
