Although research demonstrates that adult learners are frequently underserved in community college systems, this is largely due to institutions' failing to recognized adult learners as unique, with specific expectations and needs. Satisfying their expectations through careful and continuous research does impact community college planning and administration positively, while producing quality opportunities to adult learners with affirming results.

This was a quantitative study using a survey instrument, Adult Student Priority Survey, (Noel and Levitz, 2000). The research investigated the overall expectations of adult learners who matriculated at community colleges and compared these findings with issues that indicate satisfaction of these expectations.

Conclusions drawn from this research can have an impact for adult learners who seek positive and rewarding academic experiences through the community college. Adult learners can expect to be recognized as unique and served by a college that has a commitment to excellence. Satisfaction is dynamic and changing factor in providing educational opportunities. Commitment to continual assessment is an essential practice in maintaining a high level of adult learner expectation and satisfaction.
