The way a leader carries himself or herself will often determine how far his or her company will go in terms of growth and innovation. Effective leadership in the IT industry is crucial to the success of a company. Many factors can contribute to the success of an IT company. A comprehensive new model of factors that contribute to effective IT leadership research has been conducted through well known journals and magazines including but not limited to, MIS Quarterly, Harvard Business Review, and Computer World. For published and electronic opinions from prominent IT industry experts, as well as leadership experts in general, different leadership books and Web sites have been consulted. Different leadership models based on the above research have been studied thoroughly in order to identify a new, more comprehensive model of effective IT leadership. The validity of the new model has been tested and researched by a variety of electronic and published sources. It is believed that this model covers all of the important factors that contribute to effective IT leadership, which are integrity, communication skills, vision, initiative, technology prowess, business knowledge, and financial management.Subjects--Topical Terms:
