Evans, Julie Elizabeth.
Mentoring and story: The landscape and language of learning.
- 62 p.
Co-Readers: Alan Mandell; Steve Lewis.
Thesis (M.A.L.S.)--State University of New York Empire State College, 2005.
This paper is a personal and theoretical investigation of the relationships that exist between the craft of mentoring, the art of storytelling, and the transformative potential of personal stories within the mentoring relationship. It begins by looking at theories on mentoring and then moves into an exploration of story's place, power and purpose in our lives and within the context of mentoring. Synthesizing the essence of this study, the paper then moves into interviews with seven mentors, from various fields of expertise, who discuss their views on mentoring and story. The conclusion discusses story's role in the mentoring relationship.
