The results of this study indicate that body dissatisfaction is a strong predictor for BMI; the higher the BMI the higher the body dissatisfaction among adolescent girls. This was noted especially for African American and Hispanic adolescent girls and for younger adolescent girls age 13, 14 and 15 year olds and the higher the BMI the more likely the adolescent girls would engage in sedentary activities for a greater number of hours; this was noted particularly for African American girls.

In regard to physical enjoyment, physical activities that were fun, enjoyable, pleasant and exciting had a strong association with BMI and with the adolescent girls' cultural attitudes and beliefs for physical activity. Hence, the higher the BMI the more likely the adolescent girl would not find physical activity to be fun, enjoyable, pleasant and exciting. The more positive the cultural attitudes and beliefs for physical activity of adolescent girls the more likely they would find physical activity to be fun, enjoyable, pleasant and exciting.
