Thesis (Ph.D.)--New Mexico State University, 1991.
A computational psycholinguistic model of written language comprehension called PM (Propositional Model) is described. This research focuses on the cognitive processes and memory structures involved in the determination of the propositional content of written English text and is primarily concerned with the development of an adequate system of representation and processing mechanisms for that purpose. In addition, two experiments aimed at testing two basic predictions of PM are presented. The dissertation concludes with a discussion of PM's contributions to the study of language processing.Subjects--Topical Terms:
