The Assessment of Student Functioning has ten scales providing a student global functioning score. The scales assess Academics, Mood, Self, Attendance, Attitude, Energy, Peer/Social relations, Behavior, Problem-solving, and Physical concerns. A student version was administered twice to East and West coast elementary, middle, and high school students, and adult versions were completed to test reliability. Demographic data were used for validity testing. All student test/retest scales were significant, and 9 of the student/adult correlations were. Most or all ASF scales test versions showed high internal consistency, but interscale independence requires improvement, as does the Energy scale. High Academic scale scores predicted higher GPA, Special Ed and highly absent students predicted poor functioning, and White, African-American, and Hispanic peer-interaction differed.
