Mother reported parental involvement and defined school success were investigated. The research is part of a larger study and examined results from 47 Spanish-speaking and 36 English-speaking mothers' first response to 2 open-ended questions. The most frequently reported definition of school success was academically focused for Spanish-speaking and English-speaking mothers. Both language groups most frequently reported working on homework or reading with their children as a parental involvement activity. Overall, there are key similarities between the language groups. School psychologists and others in the field of education may use this information to spark exploration of reported parental involvement, defined school success, and language differences in their districts.
