The purpose of this study was to elicit the perceptions and concerns of custom harvesters dealing with safety and health issues they may face in their operations, as well as their knowledge of selected regulations and their self perceived knowledge of their ability to train employees on the safe operation of harvesting machinery and other equipment. Participants were also asked to indicate from a list of training materials which best described the materials they use in the training of their employees.

Participants were asked several demographic questions about their operation ranging from average age to hours worked each day to length of season. The most common response for the average age of employees was 22 to 25 years of age (47.2%). With the most common response for the length of the harvest season was 5 to 6 months long with 39 responses (70.9%) and the most common responses for the length of work day being 9 to 11 hours (34.5%) and 12 to 14 hours (54.5%).
