The analyses of the data involved calculating frequencies, tests of significance and qualitative analyses. The SPSS (Version 14.0 for Windows, 2005) was used to calculate frequencies, descriptive statistics and to perform tests of significance. The results revealed that there were nationality, gender and status differences on the use of the pragmatic markers employed in this study. The International, Female and Undergraduate groups were significantly associated with the use of formal pragmatic markers whereas the American, Male and Graduate groups employed informal pragmatic markers.
