Satisfaction in Long-distance Romantic Relationships (LDRRs) is explored. Forty couples recruited from various sources in the United States and abroad were studied in order to determine whether LDRR satisfaction is related to a number of personality and demographic variables. Results demonstrated that several personality and demographic variables are in fact related to LDRR satisfaction. The findings of significance and nonsignificance often varied according to gender. Sexual satisfaction is the only variable that is significantly correlated with LDRR satisfaction for both genders. It is speculated that the phenomenon of idealization is a key factor for LDRR satisfaction. Clinical implications and suggestions for future research are discussed.
