Thesis (M.S.)--Oklahoma State University, 2007.
The effect of corn and sorghum distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) on apparent nutrient digestibility of growing pigs was examined. Two experiments were conducted with a total of 35 Yorkshire barrows with an average body weight of 29.6 kg and 25 crossbred pigs with an average body of 27.5 kg. Pigs were blocked by body weight and ancestry and randomly allotted to dietary treatments with five pigs per treatment in a randomized complete block design. Data was analyzed as a randomized complete block design with initial weight as the blocking criterion. The model included the effects of block, treatment and block by treatment (error). Pig served as experimental units. Phosphorus bioavailability ranged from 64 to 77% in DDGS sources. Apparent digestibility of nutrients in DDGS sources can be expected to range from 77.1 to 80.3% for nitrogen, 61.6 to 66.9% for phosphorus, and 76.65 to 82.9% for gross energy.
