The design and development of a linear antenna array operating at center frequency of 9.5 GHz is presented in this thesis. A 12 patch center-fed array composed of sub-arrays of series fed antenna array conformed by 6 elements is designed in a multi-layered structure. The patch antennas are located on a foam material with copper cladding (FoamClad by Arlon) and the feed network of the antenna in a different material (Rogers RO 3006). FoamClad material has a permittivity of 1.2 and a thickness of 1.75mm and the RO 3006 material has a permittivity of 6.15 and a thickness of 0.625mm. Two different arrays where considered and studied. One of the arrays has loading chip resistors at the end of the sub-arrays to dissipate the remaining power. The second one, the last element was replaced with a load-radiating element to radiate the remaining power. The results for both configurations are presented and discussed in this thesis.
