Performance of male and female diploma nursing students on a mental rotation test. - 64 p.

This descriptive, comparative study provided information regarding the spatial ability among a sample of 66 diploma nursing students in regard to differences between male and female scores on a mental rotation test. Fifty-one female participants (77.3%) and fifteen male participants (22.7%) completed the Vandenberg-Kuse Mental Rotation Test and a demographic questionnaire. Data analysis was achieved through the use of summary statistics and independent t test of mean scores. The results revealed a significant difference between the scores of men and women, with men attaining a mean of 4.75 higher than for women. This study is consistent with other findings done primarily with college-age samples.Subjects--Topical Terms:
