Thesis (Ph.D.)--The Pennsylvania State University, 2002.
This study qualitatively explored and examined the nature of relationships in an online learning context. Student interactions with other students were the focus of the data collection process, which was based in part on the philosophical perspectives of phenomenology. In an effort to uncover student relationship experiences, a blend of phenomenological, ethnographic and ethnomethodological processes was employed which allowed the essence of student experiences to emerge.
