<italic>Scope and method of study</italic>. American Management Association members (N = 4000) were surveyed to ascertain any differences in the needs of female and male business travelers. A self-administered questionnaire was created from the information obtained from the literature research and the focus-group interview. This study employed mixed mode methodology where the survey instruments were disseminated by mail and e-mail/web-based forms. The data analysis was organized into six parts using descriptive and inferential statistics.

<italic>Findings and conclusions</italic>. Over 90% of the respondents rated cleanliness of hotel, comfortable mattress and pillows, convenience to meeting site, in-room temperature control, well-maintained furnishings, and friendly service of hotel staff important to very important in selecting a hotel. The overall importance score of hotel selection attributes were found to differ significantly between male and female business travelers. Similarly, the overall perceived performance score of hotel selection attributes were found to differ significantly between male and female business travelers. There was a significant difference between perceived importance of hotel selection attributes and perceived performance. The overall importance and satisfaction scores of sustaining technology attributes does significantly differ from the overall importance score of disruptive technology attributes. A factor analysis was conducted for the importance attributes. The contents of the fifteen factor dimensions were analyzed and named as follows: technology, work atmosphere, security, entertainment, service, room comfort and quality, safety, room amenities, value, breakfast, reservations, branding, gender consciousness, airport, and meeting site convenience. A significant difference was found between factors and level of education and level of income of the respondents. Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) was conducted on the factors obtained from factor analysis.
