The main objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between a number of variables; achievement measures in learning of (ESOL) English to Speakers of Other Languages. It is also to identify the influential role played by a number of environmental factors. The need for this study has arisen from the fact that the linguistic competency of Bahraini State-Secondary-School students doesn't enable them to cope with the level of linguistic complexity required for higher education or employment. The sample consists of 22 final-year secondary school male and female students whose average age is seventeen. They have studied English as a Foreign Language for nine years. This study also deals with the problems and difficulties facing Bahraini learners of English from a sociopsychological perspective. Teachers' and students' questionnaires as well as interviews are used as tools.
