520 $a The purpose of this study was to conduct an investigation of the personality types and leadership styles of selected female deans in American and Taiwanese institutions of higher education. The data used in this study were the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and a self-survey questionnaire.
520 $a 37.5 percentage of female deans respondents in both countries reported consistently introverted, sensing, thinking, and judging (ISTJ) as personality types. The remaining types in order of incidence were ESTJ (20.8%), ENFJ (16.6%), ENTJ (16.6%), and ESFJ (8.3%).
520 $a Answers to the self-survey questionnaire provided some insight into how the female deans themselves felt about leadership. The American female deans defined leadership as the following: (1) providing vision; (2) providing creativity; (3) achieving group goals; (4) developing and implementing effective strategy; and (5) developing trusted. The Taiwanese female deans defined leadership as the following: (1) to coordinate; (2) to have vision; (3) to do service; (4) to be emotional and (5) to reach the goal.
