Procedures. The California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory (CCTDI) and the Lecturer's Conception of Teaching and Learning (LCTL) were used to measure critical thinking dispositions (CTD) and conceptions of teaching respectively. A sample of both full-time and part-time theological educators (N = 118) from 10 seminaries and Bible colleges in Malaysia and Singapore participated in the study. The Chi-Square Test of Independence at 0.05 level was performed to determine the relationship of CTD (Negative, Positive) and the adjusted variable of conception of teaching (Predominantly Learning Facilitation, Predominantly Knowledge Transmission, Eclectic). Cramer's V was calculated to ascertain the strength of the relationship.

Findings and conclusions. The result of Chi-Square Test of Independence indicated that CTD and predominant conception of teaching are not independent (Chi-Square (2) = 7.508, p = 0.023). Its strength of relationship test indicated a very weak relationship (Cramer's V = 0.252). Data collected by CCTDI revealed that 84.75% of the lecturers demonstrated positive CTD and approximately 11.02% of them showed a general strength across all the seven dispositions toward CT. Data collected by LCTL revealed that 95.08% of the lecturers inclined more toward the learning facilitation concept in contrast to only 70.98% for knowledge transmission concept of teaching.
