The Socialist Republic of Viet Nam (SRV) and the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) achieved within the last quarter of the twentieth century their respective spectacular reunifications. These two countries performed their dreamed official reunification in different ways, but they followed opposite political ideologies. And the two governments have different goals for their education systems. Despite their differences (language, religion and race), the Vietnamese and the Germans have achieved many striking similarities in culture and education from ancient times to the present.

520 $a Upon their reunifications, Viet Nam in 1975 and Germany in 1991, both countries started to establish a new system of education to promote the political ideology of the winners' side and to achieve a reunification they hope to be smooth and durable. Unfortunately, the application of a communist ideology, upon the pro-western democratic society of South Viet Nam, has created structural and organisational problems in both parts of Viet Nam. At the same time, the Federal Republic of Germany did not take full advantage of the Viet Nam's failure. Problems surfaced in the education system when the Federal government could not fully control the "winners take all" attitudes, which were the source of most problems in the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
