The first step was to study the history of graphic media technology and from evolution in past and present, identify the future activities and then to incorporate those changes into the design proposal to improve and enhance the learning experience. Two adjacent studios, Watt 200 and Watt 201 (30&feet; x 60&feet; x 14&feet;) are considered for the design purpose.

The ideal learning environment integrates all elements—the students, the instructor, the space, the furnishings, the hardware, the software, and the network. This work mainly concentrates on investigating the impact of advances in digital media technology on physical attributes of an architectural design studio, and includes initial explorations into services like lighting and networking.
