Much of the difficulty so far with regards to the integration of psychology and Christianity can be linked to the structural failures postmodern theory identifies within modernist philosophy. Arguing that modernity can be found at the heart of both liberal and conservative ends of the contemporary Christian spectrum, this work explores selected possibilities and differences implied by a postmodern approach to integration, a movement away from reliance on universal, trans-historical truths, for the embodied, storied truths of biblical and psychological narratives. Concern is taken with responding the question of whether such an approach can maintain fidelity with the historic belief content of the Christian tradition.
