The design and fabrication of a wireless chemical analyzing unit containing a pulsed amperometric electrochemical detection module, a 3-channel high-voltage power supply, embedded controller, modem and graphical user interface is described. The pulsed amperometric electrochemical detector utilizes signal conditioning analog circuitry and a digital feedback range controller. The high voltage power supply is designed for microchip capillary electrophoresis testing and the graphical user interface is programmed to communicate wirelessly from a PC com port. The entire device is integrated and controlled by digital hardware implemented on a field programmable gate array microboard. The unit is able to control and perform a capillary electrophoresis injection and separation while electrochemically detecting and transmitting an electropherogram to a remote station.
