Thesis (Ph.D.)--New York University, 2009.
This qualitative study sought to explore the parenting and attachment experience of single low income mothers who have attended a parenting education class. Data was collected in 2007 from 16 single low income mothers interviewed in New York City in both a telephone interview and an in depth, in person interview. A qualitative analysis of the data was then reviewed using grounded theory approach. The study explored the relationship between the women's family of origin, childhood support systems and their own children regarding mother-child attachment.
