This study seeks to find ways to make the Philippine church a celebrant church through research using biblical, theological, historical and cultural perspectives on festivals and their applications. Festivals have been deeply rooted in the Filipino culture and are an important component of Filipino life. I believe that adopting the spirit of festivals into church life can make the Filipino church a celebrant church.

Following the introduction in the first chapter, Chapter 2 describes the background of the United Methodist Church in Negros Island pertaining to the understanding of its characteristics. Chapter 3 describes the characteristics of different Filipino festivals. Chapter 4 presents the biblical background of festivals in the Old and the New Testaments. Chapters 5 and 6 introduce theological perspectives of celebrant worship discussed by Robert E. Webber and John Wesley. Chapter 7 entails strategies that can be applied in making the Philippine church a celebrant church through worship and others activities.
