A model curriculum was developed for percussion ensembles to be used in five elementary schools in the Magnolia Elementary School District. The author created procedures to introduce innovative, yet simple, arrangements of music that motivated students, increased music learning, and developed each student's artistry, creativity, and musicianship. The curriculum included a unique blend of diatonic arrangements and improvisational studies designed by the author to expose elementary age students to the music of the classics, cross-cultural influences, and jazz studies.
