In the Spring of 2007, CalRep mounted a version of Don Perlimplin and his Love for Belissa in the Garden by Federico Garcia Lorca, adapted and directed by David Zinder. Through Lorca's life and poetry, Salvador Dali, traditional fashion and kitsch, I found inspiration that influenced the design elements of line, shape, and color. Using the contrast between traditional fashion and kitsch, I highlighted the differences between the two main characters, Belissa and Don Perlimplin.
