In designing Romeo and Juliet I tried to create a world that embraced the intense passion within the characters, while also emphasizing the extreme contrasts that exist in the play. The many locations were suggested by the occasional addition of furniture pieces, the movement of the main staircase, and changes in lighting, allowing for smooth transitions between scenes.
