This practicum project involved the design and construction of the Human Resources Web Page for Empire State College of the State University of New York. Preliminary steps involved an analysis of the needs and desires of the institution, research into the history and technology of the Internet, a review of the legal and technical issues involved in building web pages in a public employment environment, a review of the human resources web pages of similar institutions, and training in the use of web development software. The web page was designed and constructed with sections for Announcements, Contacts, Frequently Asked Questions, Employment Opportunities, Benefits, Payroll, Policies, Employee Resources, Forms, and Human Resources Staff Resources. The page went through several phases of review and revision in conjunction with the Offices of Human Resources and College Relations. The final version of the web page was released for public access on April 3, 2000.
