Chapter Four discusses the correlation of the discourse of aesthetic education and its affect on the elementary music series of the Silver Burdett Company over this period. Conclusions from this study show that this twenty-five year period demonstrates a major philosophical shift in the curriculum of this series, as well as a significant change in the use of the interdisciplinary fine arts. These changes appear to reflect the increased discourse on aesthetic education, which in turn, changed the role of the interdisciplinary fine arts in this elementary music series from the utilitarian to the aesthetic.
