Exercise motivations were evaluated using Markland and Ingledew's (1997) Exercise Motivations Inventory-2 (EMI-2) in a sample of 105 male and female health club members, age 18 years and older. Results from univariate analyses showed males reported Competition as a motivation more so than females, whereas, females reported Weight Management as a motivation more so than males. Results also revealed SES had a significant main effect on the Ill-Health Avoidance subscale.
