The spiritual and the wilderness have been intertwined throughout history, yet modern adventure programs rarely focus on spiritual development. This study examines the foundations of adventure education, its history, philosophy, applications, and Biblical connections. Building off of theoretical foundations the researcher developed curriculum for a private residential program in Los Angeles, CA. The curriculum focuses on the programs five core areas: Spiritual Development, Substance Abuse, Anger Management, Relational Development, and Leadership Training. Using the curriculum developed for this study the author implements and researches the connection between adventure programming and spiritual development.
