Scope and method of study. The purpose of this research was to provide an analysis and assessment needs in hospitality ethics education. Participants in this study were international hospitality educators and U.S. hotel practitioners. Descriptive analysis, exploratory factor analysis, Chi square, and Independent Samples t-test were used for this study. A researcher-designed questionnaire was created to measure the subjects' perceptions and needs about ethics education and ethical practices within the hospitality industry and hospitality programs.

Findings and conclusions. The results of this study generated a number of crucial implications for hospitality ethics education. Most hospitality educators (79%) believed that business ethics could be taught and 93 percent of hospitality educators thought that ethics courses or seminars had been of benefit to them. Most hospitality practitioners (73%) believed that business ethics could be taught. This study shows that hospitality educators and hospitality practitioners possess a positive attitude toward ethics education and training in the hospitality industry and hospitality education. This study reveals the degree that hospitality educators and hospitality practitioners agreed with 12 statements with regard to business ethics being practiced in the hospitality industry. In terms of other demographic profiles of hospitality educators and hospitality practitioners, it was concluded that hospitality educators' and hospitality practitioners' demographic profiles did not significantly differ in ethics education and business ethics practice.
