Thesis (Ed.D.)--University of Phoenix, 2009.
Managers within an organization contribute in different ways to the organization. The training the managers receive may have a direct effect on the success or the failure of the organization. Some type of training is needed for the managers to serve the organization (Lin, Wu, Huang, Tseng, Lawlor, & Vestal, 2007). The quantitative, cross-sectional survey study explored the type of training received by hospital-based middle management level nurse managers in magnet and non-magnet status hospitals in the continental United States. The study sought to identify the type of training delivered to the nurse managers and the managers' perception of the effectiveness of the training. The study findings revealed that mangers are being trained most often by mentoring only and not in a structured learning program. There was a significant difference in the way the managers perceived the effectiveness of the training in the magnet and non-magnet hospitals and the geographical regions throughout the continental United States.
