Adviser: Jeffery Koob.
Thesis (M.S.W.)--California State University, Long Beach, 2008.
One of the most empowering movements to take place in the United States has been the feminist movement. Starting with women against slavery, it has transformed and grown into a movement for all women adding depth and analysis beyond traditional forms of theory. Social work is a field that has always been dedicated to the empowerment of people and it makes sense to merge the two. The following curriculum development project is designed to provide an introduction into feminist theory for undergraduate social work students with the goal of increasing the knowledge of race, class, and gender oppression. In order to accomplish this goal the curriculum will cover the following topics: White feminist theory, Black feminist theory, Chicana feminist theory, Native-American feminist theory, Lesbian feminist theory and Feminist pedagogy.
