- 68 p.
Adviser: Julie O'Donnell.
Thesis (M.S.W.)--California State University, Long Beach, 2008.
The purpose of this project was to develop a school-based mental health program aimed at early prevention and intervention, to identify potential funding sources, and to complete a grant application to fund a program at a public elementary school in an urban school district in Long Beach, California. A grant was written to the Early Mental Health Initiative (EMHI). The proposed program incorporates a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to promoting children's mental health through the use of early intervention and non-directive play among kindergarten through 3rd grade students with mild to moderate adjustment problems. Social work implications were discussed. The actual submission and/or funding of the grant were not required for the successful completion of this project.
