Gorman, Sandra Kay.
Correlational study of birth order with educational attainment and transformational leadership.
- 104 p.
Adviser: Cheryl Thompson-Stacy.
Thesis (Ed.D.)--University of Phoenix, 2008.
This quantitative correlational study investigated the relationship between birth order and educational attainment. The independent variables were (a) age, (b) birth order, (c) gender, (d) family size, and (e) whether the participant was only-born. The dependent variables were (a) the number of years of education of the participant and (b) the grade point average or GPA. A demographic questionnaire was given to 90 students 18 years of age and older attending private and public community colleges and universities located in the Dallas, Texas area. The results of this study show that a statistical correlation exists between GPA and both birth order and family size. Transformational leaders could impact students and level of educational attainment through coaching and mentoring.
