Wolfe, Donna Lee.
Freud's "Project" and neuroscience.
- 89 p.
Chair: Edward Shafranske.
Thesis (Psy.D.)--Pepperdine University, 2002.
This is a scholarly investigation of possible parallels between some selected hypotheses presented by Freud in his 1895 Project for a Scientific Psychology and modern neuroscience. Freud's theoretical concepts were considered in light of relevant neuroscience literature. It was found that many of Freud's ideas bear a striking resemblance to the questions currently being asked about development, emotion, brain function, and behavior. These findings are discussed and it is suggested that there may be some important benefits to be gained from increased dialogue between neuroscience and psychoanalysis.
