Thesis (M.F.A.)--California State University, Long Beach, 2007.
This study presents the growing need for education and outreach programming in regional and university non-profit theatres and explores various education and outreach strategies, which enable theatres to enhance the impact of their work. The effectiveness of 5 specific strategies is examined through an analysis of the education and outreach program, which I developed for California Repertory Company and the Department of Theatre Arts at California State University, Long Beach, in 2006. The study demonstrates that such programs can be effective in helping audiences deepen their connections with art, artists, and each other.
