Thesis (M.S.)--California State University, Long Beach, 2008.
The purpose of this study was to explore the problems within the high school sector. Given high school student's characteristically short attention span and unpredictable interest in academic subjects, some students can be at a disadvantage in a traditional school setting. Once students are considered at-risk, there are ways of getting help. An alternative education intervention program is a potential "safety net" that can get them back on track. Alternative education is a dropout determent program designed to encourage students to stay in school. It is expected that at-risk students who participate in alternative intervention programs would drop out of school less than their counterparts who do not.
