Hypnosis for increased performance in athletes: A program design.
- 85 p.
Adviser: Ana Maria Pi.
Thesis (Psy.D.)--Carlos Albizu University, 2008.
The effect of anxiety on performance has been a topic of great research in recent times. As the business world becomes more and more competitive people, are looking for an edge to be better than the competition. This is also true in the world of sports. This work is a comprehensive program that can effectively help an athlete to obtain, maintain and sustain a mental state that is conducive with peak performance. The program will span nine sessions to be completed within a three week span of time. A specific importance is placed in using the athlete's position coach as part of the treatment team. In addition to the implementation of the coaches thoughts the athlete will be taught to self hypnotize, in order to be able to enter the optimal performance zone at will. This program will help athletes to be more marketable to the teams that they play for. Increasing the likelihood of peak performance will bring more wins to the teams, leading to championships and increased profitability for athletes, teams and universities.
