520 $a Background. The data and information collected, studied, summarized and conveyed is the most current to date (2008), as it relates to Nanotechnology and EHS systems. Nanotechnology is a new, evolving and exciting science, but has numerous unknown issues and unanswered questions associated with implementation and usage. Primarily, I reviewed and discussed the critical nanotechnology EHS issues as it relates to environmental and human health exposures to nanoparticles. In the 21st century, nanotechnology is at the forefront of science, engineering, and technology and is one of the most advanced creations the human-race has created to date. Nanotechnology, nanoproducts, nanoparticles, and nanomaterials are not without risks and have many questions that must be answered, as it relates to human health and the environmental exposures.
520 $a Results & Conclusions. A theoretical analysis, backed by experiments and past studies of nanoparticles, indicates that exposures to these nanomaterials do exist. A summary of the most current tools, equipment, and technologies for measuring and identifying them have been listed for the EHS professional to use while creating and/or updating their respective EHS management systems for this new and importance program of concern.
