It presents the historical background of mission partnership among Korean and American Presbyterian denominations forming the General Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of the Philippines (GPPCP) in 1987 which later developed into General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of the Philippines (GAPCP) in 1996.

520 $a This study investigates the strategies and development of the church through historical and analytical methods in order to shed light on reasons for the successes and difficulties in the foundation of the Presbyterian Church. The pioneering strategies of the missions and missionaries laid the foundation of the Presbyterian Church of the Philippines. The establishment of local churches and national and regional theological schools created a structure and provided leadership for the church. The succeeding strategies implemented by the denomination showed vitality and strength for its development. However, the Korean mission's financial control of missionaries and its leadership role over Filipino workers impedes the growth of the Filipino Presbyterian church towards its indigenization. On the other hand, the level of financial dependency of the church must gradually be reduced if not immediately be eradicated. Furthermore, Filipino leadership must faithfully exercise its leadership functions and pursue the goals aggressively for the development of the church.
