The Pantex Plant in Texas is the US Department of Energy facility responsible for dismantling, evaluating and maintaining the US nuclear stockpile. A model was developed to assist in planning weapon dismantlement and maintenance and stockpile evaluation. It also tracks inventory balances and shipping schedules. The overall problem is formulated as a mixed integer-programming problem with the objective of maximizing dismantlement throughput.
