This Brazilian team developed and implemented a model to aid in the decision-making process associated with lily production planning and trade. The computer program, which incorporated a specific linear programming model, was developed for Brazil’s largest lily producer and involved both lily varieties used to produce cut flowers and those intended for use as potted plants. The results for 2000 demonstrate a 25% increase in production profitability in comparison with 1999.
